4TH BIN: ELECTRONIC WASTE COLLECTOR
Provided: Design Collaboration w/ Cypher13
Location: Boulder, CO + New York, NY
Completed: June 2009

Both the body and head of this waste collector is made of 100% post consumer electronics recycled plastics technology (PCERP). It is made of what it collects. The security shield dumping mechanism and locking arm are made of stainless steel.

WHY: We are producing and consuming more than our resource-rich EARTH can sustain. While technology has the power to solve issues of waste, technology also presents a new source of large-scale waste we must confront. To manage electronic waste sustainably we must reuse is, recycle it, and sometimes dispose of it. In every case, we must first collect it. Enter the 4th bin and the electronic waste collector (EWC): a modular, 3-part, e-waste collection system.
