ATMOSPHERE
Provided: Architecture + General Contracting
Location: Boulder, CO
Completed: December 2004

As the client describes it, 'atmosphere' is the idea and act of 'rising'. Vignettes are created for this boutique of fine furnishings and goods. Like a stage setting, the space has movable walls and a cloud-like variable lighting system. It adapts to changes in merchandise and daily/ seasonal changes of outdoor light. Stained concrete floor with circular wood inlay pattern guides pedestrians.
Shoppers will feel reclaimed timbers, brick from a 1900’s Denver iron foundry, solid rubber bicycle wheels, and objects of utility gathered from the Front Range. Treasure hunting is not a lost pursuit.
